NINO Conference Participation Grant

Specifically for ICE 13 and RAI 68 participants, NINO offers a limited number of Conference Participation Grants, under specific conditions. Eligible are Egyptologists, Assyriologists and archaeologists residing in the Middle East or North Africa. The grant is a set amount of € 500 and the grantees will be drawn by lot from the eligible candidates.

2023 will see two major conferences of Ancient Near Eastern scholars in Leiden: the 68th Rencontre Assyriologique Internationale (17-20 July 2023), and the 13th International Congress of Egyptologists (6-11 August 2023).

In response to the anticipated influx of applications for Mobility Grants, NINO offers 10 Conference Participation Grants of € 500 to accepted participants in ICE 13 and RAI 68. As we anticipate that there will be many more applications than can be awarded, we will draw 10 grantees from all submitted Conference Participation Grant applications.

The applications will be checked for eligibility for the grant by members of NINO’s Academic Committee. The draw of grantees will be performed by an independent party and confirmed by the Academic Committee of NINO.

Nota bene

We recommend all who seek funding to participate in RAI 68 or ICE 13 to also apply for (a) grant(s) elsewhere, e.g. at your own university or institute, or through national or regional subsidy programmes. Obtaining a grant elsewhere will not affect your chance to win a NINO grant.
