Research & Cooperation
NINO conducts long-standing archaeological research projects in Turkey in collaboration with its subsidiary institute in Istanbul. It also supports post-doctoral researchers (recent graduates, scholars on sabbatical, and emeriti), both from the Netherlands and abroad, by providing them with office facilities. After a selection procedure, successful candidates are installed as sabbatical fellows or honorary researchers for a period from several months to one year. The research fellows add to the knowledge of the Near East at NINO through lectures and publications. For more information on these possibilities, contact C.H. van Zoest.
NINO cooperates with several scientific organizations that facilitate research in the fields of Egyptology, Assyriology, and related disciplines. Currently, the following organization has its office in NINO: International Association for Assyriology
NINO cooperates closely with the School of Middle Eastern Studies (SMES) of Leiden University. The NINO library houses part of the scientific staff of SMES and provides facilities for staff research. Students of Egyptology, Assyriology, Archaeology of the Near East etc. also use the library on a daily basis for their studies. NINO organizes a yearly symposium together with SMES (formerly TCMO).
