Important news

Starting from the year 2010 (BiOr LXVII and onwards), reviewers will receive digital offprints (in pdf format) instead of paper offprints. Authors of articles will receive both paper and digital offprints. See the publication schedule for an indication of the mailing dates for offprints.

Section "ACTUEEL"

The Editorial Board invites contributions for a new section entitled: “ACTUEEL”. The purpose is to provide scholars in the various disciplines of (Ancient) Near Eastern Studies with an outlet for fast, summary publication of important new insights, new data, new discoveries etc. in an established and widely disseminated scholarly journal. Due to the regular quadrimonthly issue of Bibliotheca Orientalis contributions submitted and approved by the Editorial Board may be published within only 5 months.

• Contributions should be written in correct English, French, or German. Please have your text corrected by a native speaker before submission.
  
• Submissions should preferably consist of 2000 to 4000 words.
• The use of a limited number of illustrations is possible. Please include separate .jpg or .tiff files (min. 300 dpi).
• The reviewer's name and place of residence/institutional affiliation should form the last line of the contribution.
  

Guidelines for BiOr articles:

• Articles should be written in correct English, French, or German. Please have your text corrected by a native speaker before submission.
  
• The article should contain the following elements, in this order:
  1. concise title clearly indicating the subject;
  2. author's name;
  3. short abstract - max. 250 words;
  4. body text - min. 4,000 and max. 20,000 words approximately;
  5. author's place of residence/institutional affiliation, and date (month and year).
• The use of a limited number of illustrations is possible, but not encouraged. Please include separate .jpg or .tiff files (min. 300 dpi).
• The subject of the article may be either an independent study, or a study directly inspired by and reviewing one or more recent publication(s) ( = review article).
  
• In the case of a review article, the reviewed book(s) should be mentioned in the first footnote. Please use the title description(s) given in our cover letter(s).

Call for papers / Submitting BiOr articles

Authors are cordially invited to submit their contributions to the Editorial Board, or to one of the Editors personally. After consideration by the Editorial Board, the Editor in charge of the appropriate section will inform the author of the Board's decision whether or not to publish the article.

  Please include:
• one paper copy of the printed typescript
• a diskette or cd-rom containing a text file of the typescript in .doc, .rtf or .txt format

• Reviews should be written in correct English, French, or German. Please have your text corrected by a native speaker before submission.
  
• The title description given in our cover letter should be used as heading of the review.
• The reviewer's name and place of residence/institutional affiliation should form the last line of the review.
  
• Typescripts should consist of ca. 1000-3000 words.
• The use of illustrations is not encouraged - please consider writing a (review) article instead.
• Reviews should be submitted no later than 7 months after the book has been dispatched to the reviewer.
