NINO librarian Anita Keizers retires

NINO Librarian Anita Keizers in her office at HMO 0.75

Today we celebrate our colleague Anita Keizers! From 2012 until now she has been our librarian, first in the NINO Library at Witte Singel 25/Vrieshof 4, and for the last two years in the Middle Eastern Library at Witte Singel 27a.

Having completed her studies in Arabic at Groningen University, Anita started working at the Netherlands-Flemish Institute in Cairo in 1988. In addition to her duties as NVIC’s librarian, she taught Arabic language and other subjects to students of Arabic and Egyptology at the institute. In 2012 she switched to NINO in Leiden – a big change, from the Egyptian metropolis to the Dutch university town.

In July 2026, after a library career of some 40 years, Anita will retire. Send your well-wishes by email!

A brief account of Anita’s career – by Mariëtte Keuken, in Dutch – is to appear in our next newsletter.
