With profound sadness we learned that Luc Limme has passed away on 21 July 2025.

Luc Limme was Editor at our journal Bibliotheca Orientalis, where he was in charge of the Egyptology section since 2007. His erudition, network, and meticulous work ethic have guaranteed a steady stream of Egyptological reviews and articles in BiOr.
Luc obtained his PhD from the University of Ghent (Belgium) in 1993. Having entered the Royal Museums of Art and History (Brussels) in 1973, he retired as Keeper of Egyptian Antiquities in 2009. He directed the Belgian archaeological mission to Elkab (Upper Egypt) and co-directed the Association Égyptologique Reine Elisabeth (AERE), as well as its journal Chronique d’Egypte.
Although he did most of the editorial work for BiOr from his office in Brussels or his home in Mechelen, Luc would travel by train to Leiden several times per year. His regular work visits to the BiOr editorial office allowed us to enjoy his kind, friendly presence. We will miss him.
